Starting a fire outside
With the weather heating up a lot of people are looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the warmer temperatures. Grilling, mowing lawns, and sitting around the fire pit may all be on the list of things you may have planned for this summer. Our team put together a few tips to help avoid any of these activities causing a fire.
- Grilling
- Never leave the grill unattended.
- Make sure the grill is clean and there is no grease built up.
- Keep a fire extinguisher near by.
- Make sure the grill is placed away from your home or any other structures.
- Ensure you are properly igniting the grill.
- Mowing Lawns
- Never put a tarp over a mower that was just recently used.
- Ensure the mower is not leaking any oil or gas if placed in a garage.
- Avoid mowing when it is dry and windy, sparks from your mower can start a fire.
- Do not over fill your gas tank.
- Fire Pits
- Keep a fire extinguisher on site just incase.
- Keep the fire pit at least 10 feet away from any structures as well as trees.
- Never leave the fire pit unattended.
- Never add additional fuel.
- Build your fire pit on a level surface.
