Winter Damages
Winter has passed, spring is here and that means summer is on the way. Not only is the weather changing, but so are some important things to keep an eye out for your home. Winter may have left some damage to your home, and now is the best time to look over your home and make sure the any damage that was caused during the winter is addressed.
Roof
The roof is one of the most important parts of your home, is protects the interior of your home from rain and many other outside elements that may cause damage. It is especially important to check your roof and attic to make sure there is no leaks or damage to the roof. If you see any damp or wet areas in your attic is important to see where the water may have entered. Over the winter is it possible that snow built up on your roof may have caused damage and should be repaired as soon as possible to avoid any further damage.
Gutters
It is important that gutters are cleaned out periodically. The gutters on a home allow the water to run off the roof. If there is any build up in the gutter it may hinder them from doing their job leading to possible water damage. If you notice that your gutters are full take the time to clean them out and remove any debris in order to restore the water flow to avoid any damages to your home.
Grading
It is also important that the grading around your home is correct. If the land started to slope down into the home, there is a possibility that water can enter the home through the foundation and cause water damage. This kind of water damage is typically not covered through insurance policies, so it is particularly important that the grading is correct.
It is important to check these places in order to prevent mold growth and any damages to your roof may cause a moldy attic or even worse.
