Sump Pump Failed But Not Covered?

Spring showers doesn't always just bring May flowers but may also include a flooded basement. Unfortunately, when an area experiences heavy rain fall a lot of sump pumps will fail leaving the homeowner with water in their basement. Sump pumps can fail throughout the year, for example this past Christmas our area experienced heavy rain that ended up melting several inches of snow that led to call after call. A lot of our customers were running into coverage issues. This is because most insurance companies sometimes do not automatically include sump pump failure on all their policies. A basement that has fell victim to sump pump failure can run anywhere between $3,000-$10,000 for dry out services. It is very important to understand your insurance policy and if you have a sump pump in your home to make sure you have this coverage added to your policy. If you are unsure if you have coverage we recommend you call your insurance companies today to make sure you have all the correct coverages added to your policy before you are underwater.
