SERVPRO helping the Hamilton Heights Youth League

The SERVPRO on Demo Day!
Please Read this touching message that we received today! It is our goal to help our community and the kids in the area.
I want to write a thank you to SERVPRO of Chambersburg. Hamilton Heights youth league has gotten land to build baseball/Softball fields and Possibility of Football and All Purpose Fields.
The First objective was to remove Buildings from the property. The youth league was up in arms on how to accomplish this Feat. We gave a Call to SERVPRO of Chambersburg and talked to the Owner Marlin Myers. He immediately donated his time to remove the asbestos in the buildings. In Turn this was not good enough for his huge heart for the community and the Kids of the Chambersburg area.
We received a Call from him a couple weeks later saying he had some favors to Call in from several local companies. Several months down the road Marlin was still working on this for the community. We then received a call stating that he was going to help build our Dream. He stated that he was in contact with Fayetteville Contractors, IESI and Blue Ridge Landfill. He was able to get these three companies on board with him to help the youth league. Fayetteville contractors were willing to donate equipment and manpower for 1 day to remove the buildings and Blue Ridge Landfill was able to donate a total of 80 tons for the youth league to dump the buildings and IESI donated the Trucks at a extremely low rate for the Pick ups.
Now Fast Forward to August 5th 2014, SERVPRO of Chambersburg, Fayetteville contractors, Blue Ridge Landfill and IESI were going to Town removing the Buildings. We have hit a couple Snags in the road but everything is moving forward. The buildings are way heavier then anyone could have expected, but we are working to finish the job by the end of the Week. We need more money as a community to finish the Job but it is like any project always something in your way. Marlin and the other companies are still helping and Marlin will see it to the end.
If I would need any type of Fire, Water Cleanup or Cleaning Services there would be no better company or Person in the Chambersburg Area Then Marlin Myers and his staff If there is any residential Trash or Dump needs IESI will have you covered. Any Dump needs please choose Blue Ridge Landfill to help you out they are there to support the community If there is any Drive way, road work, excavating or Construction Work the Staff at Fayetteville Contactors have you covered. Again Thanks Marlin Thanks, Brett Hockensmith Volunteer and Parent at Hamilton Heights Youth League

SERVPRO hosts American Red Cross Blood Drives
9/19/2013 (Permalink)
Together with the Red Cross, we can save lives!
We here at SERVPRO of Chambersburg take great pride in our partnership with the American Red Cross. One way we team up to support the Red Cross is by hosting blood drives. For someone who has never donated before, the process can seem intimidating, but giving whole blood is simple. The donation process, from the time you arrive unitl the time you leave, takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 10 minutes. And the satisfaction you get from knowing you've helped change a life? Timeless!
Here are some tips to ensure your donation goes as smooth as possible:
Before you give - Get a good night's sleep, have a good breakfast or lunch, drink extra water and fluids (but avoid tea, coffee, or caffeinated beverages), eat iron-rich foods like fortified cereals and broccoli, and avoid fatty foods like hamburgers, fries or ice cream.
While you give - Wear clothing with sleeves that can be raised above the elbow, show the staff "good veins" that have been used to draw blood in the past, and don't forget to relax.
After you give - Enjoy a snack and drink in our refreshment area. Drink plenty of fluids in the next 24 to 48 hours, avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting for about 5 hours, and eat a well-balanced meal.
Remember: Donors seldom experience discomfort after giving, but if you feel light-headed, lie down until the feeling goes away. If bleeding occurs after you take off your bandage, apply pressure to the site and raise your arm until the bleeding stops. If bruising or bleeding appears under the skin, apply a cold pack. And if for any reason something doesn't feel right, call the post-donation number at 1-866-236-3276.
