Majority of homeowner think they should clean up mold with bleach. Cleaning the are with bleach is the worst thing to do in regards to mold clean up. Bleach is mostly made up of water, and water encourages mold growth. After applying bleach to mold it may look like the area is now clean and the mold is gone but the bleach is only taking away the color of the mold. Bleach only removes the appearance of mold. Bleach is for any material that is hard or a non-porous surface, however mold grows on porous materials as well such as drywall, wood, soft goods, furniture and carpet. When bleach is applied to the affected areas the bleach is easily absorbed into the porous materials which in other words is just creating a breeding site for the mold.
